Client
The Novell Client should be installed by experienced technical
personnel only. Although the Novell client usually installs
without incident, problems may occur with your system requiring
advanced knowledge of the client software and UTSW network.
Pre configured for UTSW
Simply run the executable and the client will install with
the appropriate settings for UTSW already configured.
Zipped Client
Zipped (non self extracting client). You must download and
then extract the client locally before running. Provided for
those experiencing problems running the preconfigured client
above
Macintosh Client
No client software is required for Macintosh OS 10.x workstations to access MEDNET volumes, as all user volumes support SMB/CIFS protocols.
How to make a SMB connection from a Macintosh
Select Connect to Server from GO menu on Macintosh. At the prompt type smb://ServerIPAddress/VolumeName (i.e. smb://199.165.152.102/data) and hit enter. (Note that " smb" must be in lower case only)
You will need to contact the IR Call Center at 87600 to request your Server IP Address and Volume Name to access your shared and personal data. This table can assist with IP addresses
You will be prompted for your Domain, Name and Password (Note user ID and passwords are case sensitive).
- Domain should be set to SWMEDNET by default
- Name is your SouthwesternID (SWID)
- Password is your SWID password
Once connected you will see the volume icon on your desktop. It can be used like any Macintosh drive now.
You can then go back to connect screen and save this IP Address by selecting GO - Connect to Server and click the (+) plus symbol to add this IP address to the list below.
